Akua was born in Toronto, Ontario to Barbadian parents.  Akua and her two siblings were raised in Mississauga Ontario.  Although Akua was educated in the public school system when she was younger, she has always been and still is a lifelong supporter of private school education and personalized education including homeschooling, private tutoring and private school.  Akua has worked on journalism stories shedding light on the value and benefits of individualized education, private school education and homeschooling. 

Akua graduated from Humber College located in Toronto, earning diplomas  from the school’s Business Marketing program and the Post Graduate Journalism program.  Akua has also earned the credentials to teach Piano, Vocal and musical theory through the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.

Akua has been playing the piano and singing since she was a child, and she has won awards in several piano and singing competitions.  In 2002, Akua started teaching piano, vocal and theory lessons independently and for MPS, a large music school in Mississauga that provides private music lessons to children and adults.  Akua is also a songwriter and she sings her own songs and sells them through various Internet distributors including www.CDBaby.com, www.ITunes.com and www.Amazon.com. 

Akua has always had and continues to have a fondness for the arts; dance, music, visual arts and drama.  Akua is proud to be pet-free and with the exception of enjoying tropical fish as pets, she insists on living her life free from owning or interacting with four legged creatures.  Akua loves learning about humanity, spirituality, and self-improvement.
